about

The Innocent Bystanders recorded Rainy Sunday Morning at Singing Serpent Studios from late-2018 to early 2019. Ben Nieberg sings the lead vocal. Seth Cohen guests playing the blues guitar leads. Ben Moore recorded and mixed the song, and it was mastered by John Golden at Golden Mastering.

Robert M. Karp and Mike Mannino wrote Rainy Sunday morning in the 1990s when they were both with the New Jersey-based band Redemption. Mannino played the chord changes and Karp came up with the lyric on the spot. The Bystanders then gave it their signature arrangement.

lyrics

Rainy Sunday Morning, Laying in my bed
Music on the Radio, your voice in my head

Been two weeks and several days, sleepless nights and all
I’ve been wondering where you are, wondering if you’ll call

Reaching out to find you girl, why’d you run away
Wondering if I’ll ever find my way out of this rainy Sunday morning

Raindrops on the window pain, all the morning through
I’ve been calling all your friends, don’t know what to do

Clouds are passing overhead, reminding me your gone
Birds are singing on the wire, sing all morning long.

Reaching out to find you girl, why’d you run away
Wondering if I’ll ever find my way out of this rainy Sunday morning

Rainy Sunday Morning, Laying in my bed
Music on the Radio, your voice in my head

Been two weeks and several days, sleepless nights and all
I’ve been wondering where you are, wondering if you’ll call

Reaching out to find you girl, why’d you run away
I would drop down on my knees, just tell me what to say
I would do must anything to get out of this rainy Sunday morning.
