about

The Innocent Bystanders recorded No Place to Go at Singing Serpent Studios from late-2018 to early 2019. Kath Rogers's lead vocal and Ben Nieberg's harmonies were recorded at Capricorn Studios. The guitar solo is a double lead with both a stratocaster and a telecaster. Ben Moore recorded and mixed the song, and it was mastered by John Golden at Golden Mastering.

An early version of No Place to Go was written by Robert M. Karp and Mike Mannino. When it came to The Innocent Bystanders, Steve Semeraro added additional lyrics as well as an introduction and a bridge. The Bystanders then gave it their signature arrangement.

No Place to Go is the first single off The Innocent Bystanders first full length album Book of Life, which is scheduled for release in early 2020.

lyrics

Lyrics:

We rented a house in December
And Moved in Before the Snow
Here I am 6 months later, I got no place to go

The landlord said take it easy.
The pain is bad I know
I Packed up my belongings, and turned away real slow

There’s a picture frame turned face down, and feelings you’ll never know. But no matter where I lay my head, I got no place to go

Tonight is like the others
I spend a lot of time alone
A half empty glass on the table, I got no place to go

I walk thru the heat of the summer
the night winds come so slow
The sun just burns my shoulders, but my chest feels so cold.

There’s a picture frame turned face down, and a note written long ago
But no matter where I lay my head, I got no place to go

In the early morning sun, and I felt the sweep of your hair
The little things I remember, the things that aren’t there

I’ve played that song for hours, and the night’s still young, I know
As each day grows shorter, I’ve got no place to go

So, the moral of this story Is man you never know
Longing for a memory that just won’t let me go

There’s a picture frame turned face down
And feelings you don’t want to know
But no matter where I lay my head, I got no place to go

I got no place, I got no place, I got no place to go.
I got no place, I got no place, I got no place to go.
I got no place, I got no place, I got no place to go.
I got no place, I got no place, I got no place to go.
