about

Call of the Wild was written by Steven Semeraro about the special relationship we share with our canine friends. Drawing from the classic novel and movies, "The Call of the Wild," as well as personal experience and the dog stories told by many friends over the years, the song strives to capture the joys and sorrows these relationships bring.

lyrics

I saw you in a cage, you sat all alone.
You saw that I’d built a cage of my own
We set out with hope but no plan
You were Robin, to my fragile Batman

We took no prisoners,
Outward or homeward bound
Was it me who rescued you,
Or was it the other way around

I remember the nights when we sat in my room
I’d light up a jay while you howled at the moon
Watchin’ a comet movin’ close to the sun
whispering, you’ll never have to run

We took no prisoners,
Outward or homeward bound
Was it me who rescued you,
Or was it the other way around

When the night came, we walked in the park
A street light exploded, you were scared by the spark
You flashed across that field in your highest gear
Over the ridge I watched you disappear

Oooh, Oooh . . . Oooh, Oooh . . . Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

I called your name, oh why did you break free
Could it be that easy to forget about me
Was it really just fear that made you run
Or was it the call of the wild, saying come on, come on
